Valley International Academy has achieved Candidacy for Accreditation; this allows us to transfer our course credits to the University of California, Santa Clara University, Stanford and other excellent private and public universities. The official WASC Visiting Committee report praised the following “Schoolwide Areas of Strength”:
1. The school provides an excellent alternative for capable and gifted students who have not been successful in traditional educational settings.
2. The school’s leadership and teaching staff are dedicated to the students they teach and demonstrate a consistent caring and comprehensive approach to a system of “whole child” education.
3. Many students are successfully accessing prestigious colleges and universities, demonstrating that the school’s academic program is solid and standards based.
4. Conversations with parents indicated great satisfaction with the school’s strong literature and writing program, provision of thinking time and buddy work between younger and older students, and the freedom and support students enjoy learning as much as possible.
We hold a Private School Affidavit and are registered with the State of California Department of Education. Our registration with the College Board allows us to offer AP and PSAT exams. Students take IOWA tests to measure academic progress. We register classes with the University of California Office of the President (UCOP) system so that credits regularly transfer to the University of California and Cal State systems. We are registered with the Federal Government’s SEVIS program to provide students with I-20 assistance for student visas.
